Changing Spaces, Changing Faces: 6th National LGBT Health Conference

Following on from the 5th Health in Difference Conference in Melbourne in 2005, conference organisers are pleased to announce that the 6th biennial national Health in Difference Conference will be held in Brisbane in 2007.

Venue: Rydges Conference Centre, Southbank, Brisbane
Dates: Thursday and Friday 14 and 15th of June 2007, in conjunction with Brisbane Pride celebrations.

The Health in Difference 2007 Conference is the Australia’s biennial LGBT Health Conference and features:

1. A fabulous cocktail party in lush surrounds overlooking South Bank and the city
2. Interactive workshops with lots of audience participation
3. Presentations that involve music, comedy, literature, arts and theatre

You don’t have to work in health to attend this conference. We are exploring change, new ideas on health, spirituality, emotional & psychological lives, physical and of course sexual issues, legal rights, relationships, families, and parenting.

Health in Difference 2007 is about diversity and a commitment to the wellbeing of all individuals within the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) communities. The conference aims to provide a forum that is stimulating, safe and supportive and where all aspects of the health within our communities can be explored. Health in Difference 2007 is about acquiring new knowledge, perspectives and skills; developing networks and having fun.

Organisers are pleased to be calling for registrations from participants and will be welcoming national and international delegates to the beautiful city of Brisbane.

Abstract submissions have now closed. Submissions will be reviewed and candidates notified as soon as possible after the 30th March 2007.

How to get to the 6th Health in Difference 2007 at Rydges South Bank

Driving? From the Brisbane Domestic and International Airports take Airport Drive and turn left onto the Gateway Motorway towards the City. Veer left taking the Eagle Farm/Kingsford Smith Drive exit onto Links Avenue. Turn left onto Kingsford Smith Drive and veer left onto Breakfast Creek Road, then Ann Street. Take the centre lane for North Quay (this veers left under the Riverside Expressway). Turn right onto the Victoria Bridge and follow Melbourne Street. Turn left into Merivale Street and left into 9 Glenelg Street. Rydges South Bank is located on the left hand side of the street.

Arriving at Brisbane Airport? Take the Air Train (www.airtrain.com.au or phone +61 7 3606 5555) to South Brisbane station. It is then a 3 minute walk, two blocks, south east along Grey Street to the Rydges Conference Centre.
